Oh no, I am offline…!

Just as Egypt came back online, I went offline. Well okay I am not totally offline, I still have my smartphone, but that is not really the same. My phone line is also down (Yep I still have one of those old faction baby’s), so I need to wait for a technician from the phone company to fix it. As an IT professional it is so frustrating to have an IT problem and not be able to do anything about myself. Well it is really bad timing, because I have the day off tomorrow and didn’t have to be going to bed early tonight. I have all night free to optimize my blog and then my Internet is offline :-(

So what to do when the Internet is down and all I can do are just to wait? Well I thought, how about writing a blog post about it? So I did and the subject was kind of obvious:Are you addicted to being online and connected all the time?

Let my start with a couple of questions and then answer them myself. Then maybe you want to drop me a comment and answer the same questions yourself:
Questions

My questions:

  1. How often do you visit your own blog and check for new comments?
  2. How often do you check your traffic statistics?
  3. How often do you post a new blog post?
  4. How often do you write comments on others blog?
  5. Are you addicted to being online and always been connected?

My answers:

  1. Well I check my blog everyday if possible.
  2. I check it a couple times of days at the moment to see if my traffic is improving.
  3. I try to post a blog post at least once a week.
  4. I try to write a couple of comments on related blogs each day at the moment.
  5. Well I guess I am at some point. Hate not to be able to get online when I want to.

Well this was my answers, how about you?

I had read a news article about online addiction, and this post just reminded me of it. Sometimes I feel addicted! =)
I have my blog set to send me an email notification every time I receive a comment, which admittedly isn’t very often right now. But to be fair, I have a tab open to my gmail account constantly when I’m online.
Because my blog is so small right now, I check my stats once every few days.
I try to post every fay, but sometimes that doesn’t happen.
Every day, I comment on 20-30 blogs. Some are dedicated to online marketing, SEO, traffic generation, and others are in my own niche for natural parenting.
YES! To an extent, lol. I’m frustrated and antsy if I can’t get connected. I also attend college courses online and telecommute. =)

Thanks for the nudge to take a look at my own online habits.

I can imagine why you were annoyed when you were offine for so long! I can’t cope if I’m away from the internet for long, which really is a sad reflection on the lives we live these days! Luckily if our net goes down temporarily then I use my phone to Facebook/email. The net here tends to be dodgy around 6-10 but I’m rarely in at those times so when I do use it its superfast anyway!

Hey Thomas, thought I’d come and check out your site here!

I am definitely addicted to being online, lol. For new comments, I check several times a day. Stats I check once per day, I write 2 blog posts per week, and try to comment on other blogs at least once or twice per week.

Sometimes I hate being so connected and always online, it’s good to shut it off and go do something else for a while. I think we all need it every once in a while! :)
