You have not won 100.000, but…

100000 visitors

Today my blog crossed the milestone of 100.000 visitors since I started this blog in late 2010. When I started this blog I did not know much about Blogging, SEO or link-building. As you can see below I did not have much traffic in my first month as a blogger. A lot have changed since then. I now I am the happy owner of this PR4 Blog that has reached this great milestone.

100001 visitors

My traffic the first month as a blogger

First-month-traffic
This is my traffic statistic from January 2011 – My first real month as a blogger. I started this blog back in December 2010.

As you can see below I did not have much traffic back then and it was not because I did not put any work into it. I just didn’t know what I know today about Blogging, SEO, link building and Social Media. At this time I was not on Twitter, not on Facebook and Google Plus was not even invented at the time. At this time most of my traffic was coming from Denmark and not much of it was from search engines.

When it all started to get very Interesting

Back in June 2011 my traffic got a big boost. Google updated their Page Rank and this blog was going from an unranked blog directly to a PR3 blog. From that moment I got a lot more Search Engine traffic from Google and driving traffic to my Blog became much easier. Since then I have almost been improving my traffic each month. That was until I, as so many other Bloggers, was hit by the Google Penguin Update, but that is another story. Check out my latest Google Analytics Stats Report

Goals for the future

In order to stay motivated to improve this Blog, I always try to set new goals for the future. Reaching the first 100.000 visitors was one of my goals. I sure hope to get past 200.000 visitors in the year of 2013. I do have other goals for the months and years to come, but for now I will keep them to myself.

Thanks to everybody that have supported this blog and are dropping by from time to time. Feel free to drop me a comment below and to share this post 🙂

Congrats on the milestone Thomas. I can only dream to have a PR1 let alone a PR4 for my mobile auto detailing blog one day. I’ve been at it for 2 months for and I must admit it is a lot harder that I thought it would be.

Thanks for the post and allowing me to comment.

    1. Hi Joe
It is a lot of hard work and it does take months to get there. Also have in mind that Google does not update Page Rank each month. Maybe the next time your blog will be better ranked.

  4. Its always nice to reach milestones that one have set for himself.

Im sure if you keep up the hard work here, we would soon be reading the 1M blog post 🙂

    1. Thanks Jacob
The 1M milestone is far away, but who knows what the future will bring.

  5. Hitting the big 100,000 mark is great news. It’s always good to have a traffic goal in mind and hit it. For myself and all the aspiring bloggers out there, setting traffic goals as opposed to rankings goals is a great way to get started.

    1. Hi Edwin
I like to have a goal ahead to keep me motivated.

    1. Hi Justice
I hope that you are right about that. I have been struggling a little with my traffic after the Google Penguin update, but if I keep up my current pace I will reach 200k next year I guess.

Congratulations. I have one question though. Google uses localization in showing search results, and it says that local domain (like yours .dk is) will mostly attract visits from that specific country. Most seo experts say that without .com or .net. or .org one doesn’t have a chance to attract global search visits. What is your experience?

    1. Hi Sandra
If I should start this Blog with the knowledge I have today I would properly find an available .com or .net domain name. It is no secret that they have an advantage over country specific domain names. However even that I use a .dk domain I think I have been able to attract a good share of global visitors. This year (2012) my blog have had visitors from 182 different country and United States are number 1. Denmark is number 2, but I also got a nice share of visitors from India and Great Brittan. I would say that it would be easier with a .net or a .com domain, but not at all impossible with a country specific domain name like my domain.
