Review of HP Pavilion 24xw Monitor

I just bought myself a great new monitor, a 24″ HP Pavilion 24xw with IPS panel. As always, when I buy new electronic, I write a review to share with my readers here on my blog.

Look and feel of the monitor

My new monitor got a great design if you ask me. The monitor frame is very thin and so is the screen. The screen is in white and gray and look very modern. The stand is good looking and stable. The HP Pavilion 24xw is a screen that will look good at most office desks if you ask me. If you want to, you can adjust the screen and tilt the it 23° backward and 5° forward. The screen is based on IPS panels that gives great colors and view angel. When I put it side by side with my “old” Samsung SyncMaster 226BW monitor, it was crystal clear that my new screen was a big step up in quality. If you want a bigger screen than the one that I just bought, HP also makes a 27 inch monitor in this series named HP Pavilion 27xw.

Overall thoughts

Overall the HP Pavilion 24xw is a great screen with an awesome design and a great sharp picture. The IPS panel really does magic if you ask me. When you first have had a screen with IPS panel you will never go back for sure. Included in the box of this product you will find both HDMI cable, power cord + adapter and CDROM with driver and documentation. The last part was not really something I needed. Putting the stand on the monitor was piece of cake and so was connecting it to HDMI on my graphic card on my desktop computer.

Next up was of cause testing my new baby with a high resolution video. The new Star Wars trailer was such an obvious choice 🙂

I have the bigger brother monitor (HP Pavillion 27xi) and it is really good. I found it on sale at Office Max for $199.

Style: It looks mind boggling. My just grumble is that I feel the whole body ought to be silver and not white. Shading Accuracy : I immediately acknowledged how severely my portable workstation is over soaked. I had a dim overlay on a picture and this screen had the effect incredibly clear . My portable workstation had a somewhat blue tint! Does not accompany a HDMI port. Just VGA port is incorporated. Delivered and got it in 2 days. Astounded at the pace and the general cost.

23″ is ideal for me. Any greater and I would feel sort of senseless having that huge of a screen around my work area.

Hi – I can’t get my HP24xw to work with my MacBook Pro. I’m using a Thunderbolt to VGA adapter, and the resolution is very poor, even with set to 1920 x 1080. Any suggestions?

      Hi David
I am no expert in MacBook at all, but I think that your problem is you are using VGA. This monitor has HDMI port that is a lot better, not sure if you have HDMI or maybe a display port in your Mac?
