My Google Analytics Traffic Report for Q3 – 2015

Google Analytics

Once again, it is time for another of my Google Analytics reports. In these reports, I share the most interesting numbers from Google Analytics that I might think my readers would like to know. I also try to come with my own analyze of the numbers and what I have been doing well and not so well for the last 3 months. All in all I give you my number for those who find that kind as interesting as I do.

Traffic TypesGoogle Analytics

  • Search Engines: 46.92%
  • Direct traffic: 25.13%
  • Social traffic: 18.07%
  • Referring Sites: 9.88%

My traffic types are divided in pretty much the same way as it used to be. However my Social traffic took a big jump up due to one of my post being very popular on StumbleUpon for a day.

StumbleUpon impact on my traffic

The post that went crazy on StumbleUpon was my Review of Jabra Sport Wireless+ headset It got 521 visits on just a single day 🙂 I get a lot of questions about how I manage to get traffic from StumbleUpon. I don’t have any big secret on how I do it, but I might write a post about that topic another day.

StumbleUpon_hits

Organic traffic (Search Engines Only)

  1. Google: 88.78%
  2. Bing: 7.36%
  3. Yahoo: 3.07%
  4. Baidu: 0.37%
  5. Seznam: 0.17%

When it comes to organic traffic, it is the same all story. Google rules the world and Bing is pretty much the only contender. I am not sure how much work Microsoft put into making Bing a treat for Google, but it is not working very well.

Top 5 Referring Sites

  1. techtutorials.net
  2. bing.com
  3. duckduckgo.com
  4. google.de
  5. bloggiveawaydirectory.com

Referring sites are not something that have given me much traffic for the past 3 month. In fact, most of the sources are Search Engine sites. However, Techturials.net keeps on sending good traffic my way. Referring traffic is something I will need to improve in the future.

Top 10 visitors by CountryGoogle Analytics Map Overlay

  1. United States
  2. Denmark
  3. India
  4. United Kingdom
  5. Russia
  6. Germany
  7. Australia
  8. Canada
  9. Pakistan
  10. Bangladesh

So, where does my traffic come from. Well for the first time in many months, I get most traffic from United States. That is nice, that I am able to attract visitors from the other site of the world. Overall, I have had visits on this blog from 125 different countries 🙂

Key Numbers of Q3 2015

  • Number of Visits to my blog: 7560 visits Vs 7408 visits in my Q2 2015 report (+2.05%)
  • My Bounce Rate is: 73.64%

Conclusion of my Traffic Report

For the second time in a row, my traffic went up. Not much, but a couple of percent each time. I still once in a while get a big boost in traffic from StumbleUpon, but it is kind of an easy comes, easy goes. It never last for more than a day or two. I have been a bit lazy with my blog in September for personally reasons, but I hope to be able to post more often in the next 3 months to come. Hi Thomas,
I’m really surpised to see that your main referral traffic is coming from website other than the Facebook or other social Media website.

    1. Hi

I have not been very successful driving traffic to my blog using Social Media, but I am still working in my skills in that area 🙂

  2. Hello Thomas,

Glad to see this traffic stat for your site. I feel you need to work more on to improve your search traffic. In my opinion, if you have more than 60% search traffic, it is great.

Stumbleupon traffic is not consistent. If any of your post gets stumbled many times in a single day, you get thousands of views but on the next day you will see sudden drop. So, I always consider Stumbleupon traffic is just an added advantage, I cannot rely on it.

    Thanks for sharing this, Thomas.

    1. Hi Atish
I would love to have more than 60% organic traffic and I did have before the Google Penguin update. Since then I have been struggling to get up there again. I agree with you on Stumbleupon. That is only bonus traffic. It is kind of “easy come, easy go” traffic. Not something we can rely on.
Thank you for visiting my blog 🙂

Well Stats are quite good but only thing lack here is amount of organic traffic you getting from Google and Bing.
I hope you will bounce back in serp soon, looking forward to see it.

    1. I hope too, but the competition is hard in the technology niche.

  4. Hi Thomas

In your report I don’t see “Not Provided” keywords in “Organic traffic” report. Google analytics is showing that my site is receiving about 30% of traffic under this.

Can you tell me that why Google can’t show these keywords. Please reply this comment.

    1. Hi Deepika
That is a really good question that I have been wondering about too. I have done some research and this post gives a good explanation I think:

  5. Hi Thomas ..
You are getting a good amount of traffic from stumbleupon. Google love those sites that are Getting traffic from social bookmarking sites. But traffic from Stumble upon is not constant. I did not get any traffic from stumble upon until i stumble my post. Should i spend time on stumbling my articles?
Good luck for more better results in your next traffic report. Waiting for your next report.

Thanks for sharing such an useful Info

  6. I have tested stumbleupon for traffic, It\’s not an easy task to get traffic from stumbleupon. You cannot receive traffic from stumbleupon unless your post stands on the first page. For a post to be on the first page, the post should have votes…do remember votes can be achieved only for quality posts!..Anyway i would like to say you have done a great work to receive traffic from stumbleupn
