My Google Analytics Traffic Report for Q4 – 2013

Google Analytics 2013

Another quarter has past at is time for another Google Analytics Traffic Report from me. To my big surprise 2013 ended with a big boom, when it comes to traffic.

I must admit that the last day of the year ended with a big boom traffic wise. More than 1.100 visits on the last day of 2013. At first I thought that it was my “Happy New Year” post from the day before that have made my traffic go through the roof, but that was not the case. Instead it was a 3 year old Happy New Year post that was getting all the hits. I have now idea on why, it is a very simple post 🙂  Most of this traffic was coming from search.tb.ask.com (Referring traffic).

My Google Analytics Stats for Q4 – 2013

Traffic Types:

  • Search Engines: 42.02%Google Analytics
  • Referring Sites: 41.05%
  • Direct Traffic: 16.01%
  • Other traffic: 0.92

My Traffic from Search engines has dropped to about 42% of my total traffic to this blog. On the other hand, my traffic from Referring sites has improved a lot, but these numbers are a bit unsure to conclude anything on due to the massive traffic I had on December 31th.

Search Engines (Only Organic traffic):

  1. Google: 78.25%
  2. Ask: 11.63%
  3. Bing: 6.18%
  4. Yahoo: 2.72%
  5. Other Search Engines: 1.22%

Google is as always on top of my organic traffic, but it looks like Ask.com is going to take up the fight with Bing and Yahoo to be number 2.

Top 5 Referring Sites:

  1. Stumbleupon.com
  2. search.tb.ask.com
  3. search.mywebsearch.com
  4. social.technet.microsoft.com
  5.  t.co (Twitter)

It is pretty much the same as in my last report except that search.tb.ask.com and search.mywebsearch.com are new on the list. However, I am quite sure that they won’t make my Top 5 list Q1 2014.

Top 10 visitors by Country:

My top 10 visitors in traffic ordered by geographic:

Google Analytics Map Overlay
In Q4 2013 my blog have had visitors from 144 different countries 🙂

  1. United States
  2. Denmark
  3. India
  4. United Kingdom (Most of the visits from the UK is properly from Karen Woodham)
  5. Germany
  6. Australia
  7. Canada
  8. Philippines
  9. Bangladesh
  10. Pakistan

Not much have change, but Bangladesh and Pakistan are new countries on the list.

Conclusion on my Traffic Report

The conclusion of this report will have to be that even the last day of 2013 gave me a big traffic boost, I have not been able to recover much of the traffic I lost when Google decided to change The name of the Search game back in May 2013. However, I will keep on looking for new ways to drive traffic to my blog and continue to use the methods that are still working for me.

How about you. How did your year ended traffic wise? Did you also have a big last day of 2013 or was it just me? Please leave me a comment below.

    1. Hi Anand
I am working on getting more traffic from Facebook, but I need a bigger audience to be able to do that. I guess it will come over time.

I have never got any traffic from StumbleUpon even though I have submitted many of my articles there.

Could you please guide me on that?

    1. Hi
Maybe you need more people to follow you on StumbleUpon. You might also some times want to share your StumbleUpon link on Twitter and Facebook instead of the direct link to your post. I guess that is what have worked out for me, but don’t overdue it. Spamming a system is never good.
      Good Luck
      Thomas
