What is QR codes and how does they work?

Quick response

Are you aware about QR codes and how they works?

How does QR codes work?

QR codes is a two dimensional barcode system invented in Japan by Denso-Wave back in 1994. The barcode can represent a text, a phone number or an URL. The QR is short for: Quick Response. The concept of the QR code is that it can be scanned with a smartphone using the camera and a little application to translate the code to e.g. a website or a phone number. The concept was initially used for parts tracking in vehicle manufacturing, but is now used for many businesses.
QR codes might be the new big think in marketing and advertising. In Asia you can already see QR codes on billboards and commercials.

I have been vaguely aware of what QR codes are – but I wouldn’t know ow to go about using them. It seems like a bit too much effort to buy an app just so I can engage with an advert….

    1. Hi Barry
You don’t have buy an app for it. You can download a free one from http://www.beetagg.com/downloadreader and try it out. Maybe in the future all smartphone has a QR-code reader build in just like they have calendar and PDF reader today.

I have seen QR codes on just about everything except business cards. This would probably be a real good application for them. Maybe on the back of them. It will probably be the most popular way to port information into our mobile devices. Thanks for sharing this post Thomas!

I think QR codes are great idea but they can do so much more than just something a way to link to a web page or something to put your contact details on. I think there are so many more uses for them but we haven’t figured them out yet. I think it would be great to see food manufacturers putting a recipe on their products packaging. I think little things like these will help us to see that QR codes have so much more to offer.
