Review of Google Nexus 5 from LG

The Google Nexus 5 smartphone from LG might be a year old, but it is still a great phone. The phone delivers great power and value for your money. That is exactly why I bought this phone to replace my old Samsung Galaxy S3. My old Samsung phone, was no longer able to charge the battery, so I needed a new phone badly and did not have all the time in the world to find the replacement. My choice fell on the Google Nexus 5 from LG. After have been using my new Nexus 5 smartphone for about a month now, I thought it would be a good time to write this review, for you guys that might consider to buy this great phone

A Clean Android Phone

One of the thing I really like about this phone is that it is a real Android phone without a lot of Bloatware that many of the OEM hardware vendors normally preinstall on your phone. This is a Google Phone with a clean Android operating system and that might be one of the reason for it to perform as well as it does. The other reason is that it is powered by a 2.3 GHz Quad-core CPU 🙂 This phone have all the power you could wish for in a smartphone. A couple of days after buying this phone I received the Lollipop upgrade and the other day I got the 5.1 update for my new phone. With a clean Android phone you can be sure to get the updates from Google very fast.

My overall judgment of the phone

Overall I am still very happy that I bought this phone. It is such a great upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy S3, that I have been very pleased with until the battery was no good anymore. When I bought the Nexus 5 it was delivered with Android Kit Kat, but I only have to wait a couple of days for the Android Lollipop 5.0 version to be available for download.

Please drop me a comment if you have any questions or if you have something to share about the Google Nexus 5 Smartphone.

For me camera is most important and it’s quality of capturing pictures should be best so I don’t think I want to go for this Nexus 5 from LG.

    • Thomas says:

      Hi William
If the camera is the most important feature for you, the Nexus 5 is not the right smartphone. You might want to go for something like Samsung Galaxy S5 instead.

  3. Certainly sounds a great bit of kit Thomas, I’ve got an S4 Mini myself and love it, but for me I do like to have a handy camera at events 😉

      Hi Karen
The camera really is the biggest issue with this smartphone. They really should have done a better job with that. Other than that it is hard to find any complains about this phone I think.

This is nice Thomas. I actually got one for my mom this past Christmas. -She saw me with my S5 and wanted a “startup”. I decided to go with this one after reading a couple of reviews and as well as yours. And I’m pleased to say that she is quite happy with it.Can’t seem to stop sending me picture message on Whatsapp. LoL. I’d recommend the Nexus 5 to anyone looking for an affordable and easy to use smartphone.

  5. Camera is one of the main feature so i dont think i can go for it.

love the mega pixel of this phone, images will be pretty sharp. And the ram size is pretty good too, less slowing down of memory. the phone isn’t bad, but would’ve liked one with a removable battery. all the same, you gave a nice review.

  7. Gejo says:

Thinks this is slightly over priced whether we can get phones with more features in low price.

    • Thomas says:

I do not agree. I think that I have got a lot of phone for the money here. Compared to Samsung Galaxy and iPhone you get a lot of phone for your money here.

how much can it run on continuous gaming

I have been using this phone past 5 months and my observations on cons as below:
    1.Its gets heated up soon
    2.Battery gets drain sooner
3.while using whats app suddenly the keypad stops working and app gets hanged
    4.notification bar gets hanged instantly

All comes fine with a reboot

    • Thomas says:

      Hi Ciprian
I have not had any of those issues you descripted above. I am still very happy with my phone and 3 of my colleges has a Nexus 4 phone too. It was actually these guys who recommended the phone to me. It might have something to do with the way we use our phones and for what we use them. Have you upgraded to Lollipop yet?

This phone is beast! with a 4-cpu and 2 Gig of ram you can do any task on such phone especially if it is running android 5.0 lollipop. I have a galaxy n7000 which is old compared to the Nexus 5 but it’s running unofficial built of CM12 very smooth. Ah… I wich I could buy this phone!

Yeah man, very nice mobile from Google nexus but the latest nowadays are Nexus 5X and 6P.. I hope you will update them as well. Thanks

  15. Bob Dunn says:

One of the better reviews but it misses such a key feature – wireless charging ! And googles support for hardware is almost as good as its support for software ^ this is still the best value mobile on the market by some margin
