Review of Freemake Video Converter for PC

Video conversion made easy

Let me introduce you to the Freemake Video Converter software. Freemake Video Converter is a great, light and free application for video converting. It can convert a lot of different video formats to almost whatever you want it to be. It lets you rip DVD to AVI, MP4, WMW, MKV and MPEG if you want to store them on your hard drive to be able to watch then on PC or maybe your Media Center.

I must admit that I am very impressed about a program with a download size of only 1 MB is able to convert between so many formats and still having a very smooth and easy to use User Interface. It lets you also handle audio and subtitles if they are available on the source. Another nice thing that you can do with it is to join multiple videos into one.

The program is freeware. Not any trial period, hidden ads or sneaky tool bars. The only thing they ask you about is if you would be kind to tweet or like their product, but only if you want to 🙂

Below you can watch a little appetizer for the program:

Hey Thomas, I actually ran into this one a few days ago and it is the best converter I have found online for free. I always have trouble cause Camtasia studio won’t take some of the major video formats (go figure) so I have to convert videos and this converter is pretty awesome!

    1. Hi Brankica
It is pretty great isn’t it. It is so easy to use quick, to install and pretty fast as well and as you say it supports so many formats. Best of all it is free 🙂

I run linux on my pc. There are a number of FOSS that you can find to rip DVDs. Try it sometime.

    1. Hi Jim
I have not been using Linux for years, but I am sure that there is a lot of great free converter software for Linux as well.

  3. Mmmm.. I’ve been searching for a free video converter and I haven’t come across with this one yet. Better try it. Thanks for the info Thomas!

    1. You should Olan. It really is great and easy use too.

  4. I use Freemake download and it’s great to download videos! Never tried Freemake video converter but by reading your review and seeing the video, I am pretty sure it will have everything I would need to convert a video! Thanks Thomas! 😀

Bravo Thomas, thanks for sharing this.

I’m always looking for a good one and spend so much time online trying to locate one only to find out that their advertisement is all over the video.

Will definitely be checking this one out. Thanks so much for the heads up!

    1. Hi Adrienne

I hope you like it. Nice to have you back on my blog here in 2012. As you might have noticed my Top Commentators widget has been reset for the new year, but I can see that you are already in the second position. Lucky for you that your name starts with an ‘A’ 😉
Hope to see you a lot here again in 2012 😀

      1. Adrienne

Nice to be back too Thomas! 🙂

I don’t see the Top Commenter widget in your sidebar. Am I missing something or just blind! I guess for my first name starting with an “A” is good but then we have alphabetical order and the last name starting with “S” is never good. Oh well, such is life.

Thanks Thomas and looking forward to your posts this year.

        1. You are not blind at all, but the widget is only in the front page of my blog. My Top Commenter widget is sorting after first name so you are good in this case. Now you have posted another comment you have got the top spot my friend 😀

          1. Adrienne

Oh thank goodness I thought I’d lost it. Okay, so I’m headed over there right now to check it out.

            Thanks Thomas! 🙂

Thanks for the article. This looks like a good converter (some I’ve tried in the past have had a tendency to freeze up part way through conversions).

I’m going to give it a go now, and see how it works for me.

Videos have been the most in-demand way to communicate with others nowadays. That’s precisely the significance why we need to learn the in and out of making and converting videos. Great that you’ve shared this stuff! Thanks!

  9. Thanks for the info, now I can convert all my videos to the format that I want. The best thing about this is Freemake video is free.
I wish that it will also be an opensource so that it can be improved by the others.

    1. Hi Richard
Is it Freemake video downloader you mean? It simply does not work with all online video. I have also been experiencing website where I was not able to download videos with Freemake video downloader. Not much we can do about it I guess.

    Hi Thomas,
I have a DVD with more than 20 subtitle tracks, but Freemake shows only 16, so I cannot choose the subtitle I wish. How to force Freemake to show all subtitles. Thanks

    1. Hi Laszlo
I am not sure that I have ever seen a DVD with that many subtitles available so I don’t know how to fix it. If I was you I would try to contact their support for a solution.

  24. Akash

Freemake is very awesome converter but I would like to suggest one more to your reader & that is Format Factory. Don’t go on it’s name – it’s main task is to convert videos very fastly and smoothly in any format. Just give it try guys.
