USB 3.0 SuperSpeed set to double up the Speed

I just read a Press Release on usb.org that The USB 3.0 Promoter Group are working on development of a SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) enhancement that will add a much higher data rate. They are taking about up to twice the data through-put performance of existing SuperSpeed USB 3.0…!!!  The news was released at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. This supplement to the existing USB 3.0 specification is expected to be completed by the middle of this year (2013)

Well ok there might be a bit more to it depending on your needs, but the fact is that solid state drives are so much faster than the traditional hard drives that we have known for decades.

As you might have noticed USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed) devices has begun to show up in stores and on motherboards as well. Not that it is all new (The USB 3.0 specification was published on 12 November 2008), but as always with these thing it takes time before the prices drop for the mainstream consumers. In this post I will take a little look on what have been improved over USB 2.0 (HighSpeed) and how it is compared to the eSATA technology.
