Windows Phone 7.5 Mango
Microsoft has just recently released Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Microsoft has tried to get their piece of the Mobile marked for years without any big success so far, but something tells me that with the new Windows Phone 7.5 Mango they really mean business this time. So why do I think that?
- Microsoft started an alliance with Nokia a couple of years ago. Nokia has always made very good phones but has for years had problems when it comes to the software on their phones. I think their alliance is a very smart move from Microsoft as well as Nokia.
- All Microsoft employees are getting a Windows Phone 7.5. In that way they will get a taste of their own medicine and will all be ambassadors for their new product.
- Not only Nokia will get access to sell phones with Windows Mango. Also HTC, Acer, Dell, Samsung, LG and properly even more are coming with Windows Phone 7 phones.
- Microsoft has the best possibility of all to make strong integration with online sync of MS Exchange Mail services and the rest of the Office product suite, simply because they are making the product themself. Today you can sync mail with MS Exchange on almost all phones, but I guess in the future it will just work a little bit better with a Windows Phone
- The History of strong marketing power have learned us that when Microsoft really want something the usually gets it over time. I remember the days where Netscape was the best web browser and Novell was the best file-server. Not many people speak about Netscape and Novell anymore.
- New Marketplace – Microsoft is launching a new web based Application marketplace that already include most of the must have applications like Twitter, YouTube, Adobe Reader, Facebook, Angry Birds, DropBox and many more.
Upcoming Smartphones with Windows 7.5 Mango:
Not much use of a new mobile phone OS without a supported phone to run it on and it looks like a lot of new cool smartphones are coming with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango:
I expect my next smartphone to be the HTC Titan and I will of cause write a review of it as soon as I get it in my hands. Until then here is a little video of it:

Ok, so they have a history with great products, but lately they’ve been losing a lot of battles.
The truth is i really like Windows 7, it’s a great desktop OS, the best from Windows 98, and that says a lot. But they’re already thinking of Windows 8, how long will these phones manage to stay up to date like this?

It will for sure be a challenge for Microsoft to keep up with Apple and Android, but I think they have learned a lot in the past and I think you have some advantage over the other companies making phone software.
Well we will have to wait and see, but I believe that Microsoft will be able to compete with the iPhone.

Anyways, i don’t think they would make a buzz in the market. Android and iOS already built strong foundation in the market and they always bring new things in the table. On the other hand, Windows 7.5 mango seems not equipped with special features and functionality thus it will be another mobile flop from Microsoft.

I read somewhere that the superior ability of Mango to convert voice to text messages might give it a leg up over iOS and Android phones. Only time will tell…

It’s not a big surprise that many companies would partner up with windows to experience high definition OS on their products specially the phones.

lol it’s so funny they must have a bunch of retards working for them Who comes up with the name mango, like they are trying to take a fruit name like apple or food like the Gingerbread OS from Goggle. this company needs some new leaders or more innovative employes or it’s also going to be going no where.
I guess it is a bit of a funny name, but on the other hand Apple is a pretty strange name for an electronic company as well. I don’t really care what they call their company or their products, but how their products work.

Microsoft is a one trick horse…. There’s no way they can get into the phone market, and not for lack of trying.
Nice post! Well for a long I am waiting for a phone that have Microsoft OS on it and specially can read MS word.
If this turn out pretty well it might compete with iPhones or Android.

I don’t think it can beat iPhone, you can find iphone apps on anything, and free. I can’t find any phone that compare iphone apps.

I was really amaze in reading this article. I couldn’t imagine how brilliant microsoft would be in putting this stuff into mobile phones. But my love for iphones is truly irreplaceable, my loyalty is still with them:)

It is not the first time Microsoft releases an OS of smartphones, but this time it looks like they have actually done a serious job. I have just bought an HTC Radar with Windows Mango and so far it is pretty amazing.

The phone is totally great, with it wide screen, I could do anything with it. However, I’m not sure if Windows could surpass the popularity of iPhone, especially now that 4s is out. Plus, there are lots of application and games made for iPhone and even Android, while I don’t recall anything for Windows.

Actually Microsoft have something called Marketplace with a lot of application for Windows Phone. It might take a little while before all application also is awailable, but there are already many I think.

I just wish that Nokia would have stayed with their own OS. I admit there might be some patriotic in my view as I’m from Finland. Nevertheless, Nokia lost its distinctiveness with the Windows deal.

I think I understand what you mean. I have had multiple Nokia phones over the years, but I think that they had to do something. The Symbian OS was not at all able to compete with iOS and Android and it is expensive for Nokia to make its own new OS from scratch. So seen from a strategic point of view I think it was a smart move to do from Nokia. Nokia has always delivered high quality phones and Microsoft knows how to brand new product and have the money and power to back it up.

Interesting… However with windows 8 buzzing makes me more interested.
I am sure that Microsoft will make strong integration between Windows 8 and Windows phone in the future. It would properly be easier to transform a Windows 8 app into a Windows Phone app in the future.

I have had some Nokia phone in my life too. My first mobile phone was in fact a Nokia. I think it is a good move from Nokia to switch from the old Symbian to Windows Phone. The only reason I bought a HTC Radar was that Nokia was not ready with their Windows Phone at the time I needed a new phone.

I see. What I like with the latest window phone is the integration of different features compared to symbian. But I guess both offer great features!

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium for my laptop but for Windows Phone Mango, I still think that the mobile operating system lack of many features that already have on Apple iOS and Android.
More work needed to fine tune the OS but personally I like the simplicity of the user interface. It is very easy to navigate on Windows 7.5 Mango.

I agree with you that there still are some issues to work on for Microsoft, but on the other hand I think they have made a huge improvement compared to earlier versions of Windows Phone. If they can keep on the good work I think they might be serious competitors to IOS and Android.

The Symbian was not able to compete at all. I am sure that it was the right thing to do for Nokia and I also think that people are underestimating the power that Microsoft have when the really want something in the market.

Time to reevaluate some of this with Windows 8 coming out, and the recent Google ice cream sandwich. Besides, what Microsoft really needs to buttress its phone and the apps is a social network. How come they haven’t tried breaking into this yet.
